Director of Nursing

 
Bismarck

Full Time -   : Open until filled

As the Director of Nursing, you will supervise Northland PACE nursing and CNA staff to ensure regulatory compliance and quality while maintaining an optimal level of independence for participants.  You will collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Care Team for implementation of nursing care plan and coordination of nursing and CNA services.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervise nursing staff in accordance to the ND Board of Nursing and ANA Code of Ethics

  • Coordinates with medical staff to develop and maintain clinical care plans and is responsible for ensuring delivery of medical service recording

  • Ensure nursing assessments are completed according to regulatory requirements

  • Audit nursing care plans to confirm all care plans are updated appropriately and include all current nursing services

  • Provides technical, organizational and interpersonal skills necessary to efficiently and effectively coordinate the scheduling and communication of all aspects of the nursing team.

  • Evaluate staff performance and make recommendations regarding hiring needs and retention in conjunction with the Clinical Services Director

  • Designs systems for training, orienting, in servicing and supervising nursing staff according to program needs and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintains timely and quality documentation of all nursing services provided.

  • Provides treatments, medication administration, diagnostic and preventive measures and other services within the scope of nursing practice

  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with other program staff, contact agencies and outside organizations.

  • Participates in quality management program activities, including peer reviews.

  • Ensures nursing staff communicate effectively with hospital departments to minimize hospital lengths of stay as appropriate, and allow for a smooth transition for the client as he/she moves from the hospital to alternative levels of care

  • Provides utilization management through supervision of participant referrals to outside medical appointments and other services

  • Provides supervision On-Call coverage to troubleshoot, advise, teach, coordinate and ensure participant care is delivered.

  • Knows and adheres to the philosophy and values of Northland PACE.

  • Participates in Northland PACE Committees as assigned

  • Advises the Clinical Services Director in ways and means to establish better accountability of Northland PACE services to participants and referral sources.

  • Informs Clinical Services Director of “unusual occurrences.”

  • Identifies nursing service delivery problems and uses good judgment in their solution.

  • Maintains applicable licensure and certification and pursues professional growth through continuing education process.

Education/Experience:

 

  • BSN degree from an accredited college or university. 

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Interdisciplinary teamwork, ability to work effectively with culturally, economically and educationally diverse populations, and form positive interpersonal relations in dealing with a wide range of staff and participants essential.

  • Effective communicator and leader.

Licensure, registry or certification required:

  • License and current registration to practice as a RN in North Dakota. 

  • Current, valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
