Job Summary: Assists in planning, coordinating and carrying out Northland PACE Program therapeutic recreational activities and Day Center Program.

Primary Responsibilities:
a.    Assists in the evaluation of participant’s educational, emotional and vocational needs.  
b.    Assists with planning and implementing relevant recreational programs to meet the needs of the participants, per the treatment plans developed by the Interdisciplinary Team.
c.    Builds within the Day Center a sense of community and a warm social atmosphere in which participants are able to identify a support team.
d.    Organizes and directs individual and group activities, reality orientation, exercises, discussions, clubs, field trips/outings, arts and crafts, music appreciation, etc.  Seeks input from the participants on programming they enjoy most as well as additional ideas they would like activities to pursue.
e.    Assists in orientation and supervision of staff/volunteers.  Fulfills administrative requirements; timely completion of evaluations/reassessments, charting, maintaining statistical records.  Active participation in the multi-disciplinary team meetings, fully appreciating importance of all voices as treatment plans are developed and enacted.
f.    Treats all people with respect, maintains confidentiality and strives toward service excellence.
g.    Participates in QI activities as appropriate.  Maintains current professional licensure by attending appropriate educational conferences.
h.    Knows and adheres to the philosophy of Northland PACE.
i.    Keeps confidentiality of participant records, reports and discussions.
j.    Participates in Northland PACE Committees as requested by Site Manager.
k.    Attends and participates in scheduled staff meeting and client care meetings as requested.
l.    Maintains flexibility in schedule and responds to unexpected emergencies and changes in workload in order to fulfill responsibilities.
m.    Informs Site Manager of “unusual occurrences.”
n.    Identifies service delivery problems and uses good judgment in their solution.
o.    Is professional in appearance and manner in the clinical area; recognizes own limits and seeks help and guidance from the Site Manager as appropriate.
p.    May serve as a role model for new trainees.

Employment Specifications:


High School Education.  Prefer at least one year in adult social or recreational program.

Licensure, registry or certification required:


Valid North Dakota License

Special Training:


Must be able to work effectively with an interdisciplinary team. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to adapt to change in a positive and professional manner. Must meet standardized competencies established for position. Must be medically cleared for communicable diseases. Must have all immunizations up to date before engaging in direct participant contact.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to see, hear, and verbally communicate. Must be able to move about freely and possess manual dexterity of this position (assist with transfers, lifting, bending, etc.).

Working Conditions:

Primarily inside, well-lit, climate controlled environment.

Potential exposure to infectious disease and environmental hazards.
